More than one hundred years of history

Our experience is based on more than 100 years of Hydrangea cultivation. Hortensias France Production was founded in 1850, under the name Rousseau. The nursery changed hands at the end of the nineteenth century to Gustav Fargetton. Under the name Fargetton Plantes the company existed until the end of the twentieth century.

After a short period in the Florema group the company has regained its own independence with the shareholders Yves Albert and Kees P. Eveleens (married to a Fargetton daughter). They have both been involved in the company since 1987.

The nursery has been growing Hydrangeas since 1900 and in 1995 became 100% specialised in this crop.
With respect to climate, the area of Angers (Maine et Loire, France) has a great advantage for hardening-off the plants, especially the ‘sweet autumn’ (la douceur Angevine) gives healthy and even buds. Additionally the availability of land and labour at reasonable costs is also an important aspect.
